We are interested in developing innovative nanoprobes or approaches for diagnosis and therapeutics, which involves nanomaterials, analytical chemistry, cell metabolism, targeted protein degradation/deactivator technology, and molecular imaging. Research in diagnosis includes the design of analytical methods for detection of various biomarkers (miRNA, telomerase, DNA, ATP and thrombin) in vitro and the synthesis of nanoprobe to trace targeted molecules specific to the disease. We have developed a bidirectional method with four detection-color states for detection of urine telomerase activity and bladder cancer diagnosis, one-pot quadratic analytic technology for miRNA detection and breast cancer diagnosis, and a binary assay which can simultaneously analyze two kinds of biomarkers for muscle-invasive bladder cancer diagnosis. Besides that, we are developing smart nanoprobes to monitor glucose uptake in vivo for cancer diagnosis.
