Interesting phenomena are usually discovered in quantum materials, such as quantum Hall effect, superconductivity, etc. As dimension of materials is reduced into quantum scale, puzzling properties with no counterpart in macroscopic world emerge, like high temperature superconductivity, fractional quantum Hall states, quantum spin liquids, etc. In IQST, we are interested in quantum confinement effect in both 2D thin films or nanoplates, 1D nano ribbons and 0D quantum dots, whose applications can be extended to communication, catalysis, energy conversion, etc.
Our research includes fabrication of high-quality thin film materials and devices for efficient thermoelectric conversion, synthesis of novel monolayer materials or quantum dots for high-performance electronics and catalysis.
